The museum continues to expand its building, exhibits, archives, and lectures series. This would not be possible without the help of so many volunteers. If you would like to help in one of the committees shown below send us an email.
Archiving is an ongoing project and our dedicated volunteers meet frequently to continue to sort through materials which have been donated for our museum library.
The work group, headed by Corinne Trexler, will meet to review, organize, and catalog the new historical materials to be placed in our library for everyone to access.
The volunteers have a great time visiting and sharing what they are finding in the boxes of materials donated by family members of long-time islanders. You are guaranteed a good time!
Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm
Volunteers will work with the Museum Director to work at the museum during business hours. Work involves greeting visitors and processing any museum shoppe sales.
(There is an orientation for this activity.)
Assist the Museum Curator in setting up and taking down exhibits. Archived exhibits would need to be properly protected, labeled and stored.
With the completion of the museum expansion, all the existing exhibits will be moved and relabeled. New exhibits will also be added.
Help gather genealogy of Harsens Island residents and their history. Interview residents and transcribe into Word document.
